Overwhelmed
So its August now, whoop-dee-friggin-doo. It was yesterday that my mother decided to force me to read both my summer reading books and my math work. Unfortunately the books are long and boring even to a few english teachers I talked to. I've already read the prologue from "Death Comes for the Archbishop", a wholly unremarkable book written by Willa Cather, a well known American author. Well known for writing boring books actually. And then I have to read "The Oregon Trail" Probably more exciting than the other but still not a good book in my opinion. What is a good book? Well, I did read the new Harry Potter book just cause I could. That was fairly good although a little odd compared to all the others if you ask me. The Hobbit is still my favorite Tolkien book and I've read that multiple times. But the best books I've read was The Inappropriately Named Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy. (there's five books and a short story, hence inappropriately) Douglas Adams is a genius. But this brings me back to my argument with Disney. Touchstone (a division of Disney) recently released the HHGG movie which Adams himself worked on the script before he died in 2000. If he did write the entire thing, then thats great, this movie will be good but if Disney tries to make sequels, they will be horrible unless Adams at least worked on a part of it. If Adams only worked on a part of this movie than Disney definitely screwed something up and chances are the rest will be screwed up as well. Cause for me, the movie just didn't capture the essence of the book as well, never mind sticking to the plot in the book. So before you see the movie, read the book, its not a hard book to read.
